Message	I couldn't get mine off either. When everybody commented on the shift knob being difficult to remove, I figured it was like a bolt... a lot of force and it would "pop free" then turn easily. Boy was I wrong. I wrenched on that thing for 30 min. with the vice grips. The only reason I finally got it off was because the vice grips tore the leather off. Beneath that leather is nice hard plastic. The vice grips then took ahold of the plastic, and it was fairly easy after that. I would definitely recommend removing the leather by cutting or wrenching/tearing.
